Molting cicada
This is kind of off topic for this blog, but it was too cool not to post. I caught these images of this cicada molting from its nymph instar stage into a its teneral stage(or “soft and chewy stage”) on a trail in Sugarloaf State park. I didn’t stay long enough to see its wings stretch out, but still cool none the less.
This does tie into a previous etching I did involving a cicada, in its adult stage, called Heaven and Hell.
